Have you ever thought to yourself that you are boring and your life has nothing worth talking about going on? Well, that’s exactly how I felt when I tried to think about what on earth my hobbies were as I was pondering this question.
At first I thought to myself ‘’Hobbies? I don’t have any hobbies, I don’t have the time for hobbies!’’ Then it slowly dawned on me that my life is in fact full of activities which could be classed as a hobby and I had trouble choosing what I was going to write about in the end! I hadn’t actually realised that what I do as a matter of course is in fact considered a hobby. So, I’m sure you’re wondering what exactly it is that I do on an almost daily basis that could be considered a hobby? I shall not keep you in suspense any longer because it’s simple-I make bread and I grow plants and herbs.
I love making bread and get a great deal of satisfaction from doing something which is such a basic, yet artistic task. I enjoy everything about the whole process from making my own mother yeast to taking the finished product out of the oven. Although I can easily nip to the baker’s and pick up a loaf of bread, there is something about making it with my own hands that I find soothing and gratifying. I feel the therapeutic effects of kneading the dough and the aroma of baking bread are well worth the effort. I like nothing more than experimenting with different flour and techniques as well as varying the recipes I use. Last, but by no means least I adore the look on my children’s faces when they return home and the smell of freshly baked bread greets them as they enter the building followed by one of them declaring between mouthfuls ‘’Mmmmmmmm , it’s delicious Mum!’'
